[G] What's new in DoubleClick for Publishers

DoubleClick Publisher Blog: What's new in DoubleClick for Publishers

We're always adding new features to DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP). The list below contains some highlights. For a complete list, please visit the DFP or DFP Small Business Help Centers.

Available in DFP and DFP Small Business:
  • Alerts: Preventing delivery issues before they happen can be a time consuming and manual process. To make this process easier for publishers, and to help ensure you know when something happens that involves one of your orders or line items, such as if a line item is not meeting its delivery goal, we're excited to introduce account alerts to help bring this information to your attention so you can quickly resolve the issue. Read more.
  • Dimension reporting filters: To help you generate precisely the data you're looking for, we've introduced the ability to filter your reports by advertiser, order, line item, and line item type directly within the reporting interface.
  • Platform reporting filters: If you deliver campaigns across multiple platforms (web/mobile), you can now easily segment your reports by platform type to quickly view how your cross-platform campaigns are performing by platform type.
  • Mobile creative preview: We know that publishers like to test their creatives to ensure everything is working properly prior to pushing a campaign to their live site. We've expanded the creative preview tool to support mobile creatives targeted to mobile devices using QR code previews. Simply scan the QR code with your mobile device to view the mobile create exactly as it will appear before it's live.
  • Mobile application tags: We have expanded the formats of the ad tag generator so now you can generate tags for mobile applications in addition to your web and mobile sites.

[G] Christchurch Earthquake — One Year Later: live streaming the memorial service on YouTube

YouTube Blog: Christchurch Earthquake — One Year Later: live streaming the memorial service on YouTube

Cross posted from the Google New Zealand Blog.

On the one year anniversary of the Christchurch earthquake, the New Zealand Herald is providing full coverage of the city's memorial services on YouTube, commemorating the lives that were lost and those who are still affected by the tragedy. The live-stream of the memorial services starts today on NZ Herald's YouTube channel.

On February 22, 2011, Christchurch was rocked by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake, killing 185 people and devastating much of the historic city centre. The state broadcaster's raw coverage of the immediate aftermath was one of the most-viewed videos on YouTube on that day, as millions of people around the world stopped to watch the tragedy unfold.

Christchurch, is New Zealand's second-largest city, located on the South Island. The idyllic town is known for its friendly people, abundant gardens, and historic stone buildings. And its convenient location makes an easy gateway to mountains, beaches — and Hobbits.

Quakes have continued in Christchurch over the last year. Despite this hardship, we remain inspired by the great resilience of the city's residents, who have worked hard toward rebuilding their hometown and keeping alive the memory of the tragedy.

Richard North, a YouTuber from Christchurch, recently watched "John Key on Christchurch anniversary."

[G] Specific recommendations for individual ad units

Inside AdSense: Specific recommendations for individual ad units

We recently posted about personalized optimization tips you can receive via email or directly in your AdSense account. Today we'd like to introduce another form of optimization tips that we'll be rolling out over the next several weeks. These recommendations will show you how to make changes to your AdSense for Content ad unit type or format setting directly in your account in order to earn more.

To generate these new types of notifications, we use our technology to simulate the ad auction for a specific ad unit using different ad type and/or ad format settings. If our simulation shows that any of these changed settings consistently result in higher revenue for that ad unit, we'll show a recommendation in your account. Please note that these simulations will not affect your live traffic or earnings, and you'll only see a recommendation if our simulated auction demonstrated increased revenue for your account.

The recommendations are visible on the "Home" tab of your AdSense account so implementing a recommendation is quick and easy.

For ad type recommendations, simply click the "Do this now" button and your ad unit type will be automatically updated.

For ad format recommendations, clicking the "Create this unit" button will create a new ad unit of the recommended ad format on the "My ads" tab. To complete the implementation, replace the current ad unit code in your webpage(s) with the newly created ad unit code.

With multiple methods of bringing performance suggestions to you, we hope to help you simplify your ad management and maximize your ad revenue. For more information on personalized recommendations, please visit our Help Center.
